If you are redesigning a kitchen, bathroom or laundry, but are not sure how to lay out the space, exploring the possibility of moving walls, or the adjacency of the kitchen and dining/meal areas, you’ll benefit from forward planning. If you are demolishing the existing and starting with a clear slate, you will require all new fixtures, appliances, finishes and perhaps custom built in cabinetry.
Compared to the possible cost of renovating an average kitchen or bathroom which, with entry level finishes & fixtures can start at $36,000*, the percentage you invest in design is less than 10% of the value of the project. Your forward planning will ensure the project runs smoothly, minimising last minute changes, unforeseen builders’ variations, which can often exceed your contingency.

Step 2: 2 hour Design Workshop
A 2 hour Design workshop is required to kick start your kitchen, laundry or bathroom project. At this initial meeting, I can bring various samples & brochures relevant to your project, to establish an understanding of the types of materials available, the level of quality, and look & feel you desire. We’ll review your completed Comprehensive Questionnaire & establish an outline of the project. I can assess the existing conditions of the space, do a check measure, and review any existing special pieces you’d like to keep, and discuss any functional requirements. Together we’ll create a Preliminary selection finishes samples for bench tops, cabinetry, paints & splash back.
Afterwards, I’ll provide a detailed summary of everything we’ve covered and advice for moving forward. This may include the following & will be sent to you via email, to give you an initial plan for your space:
- 1 x Preliminary Finishes Selection & Moodboard (pdf format)
- 2 Preliminary Layout options
- Written Brief & next steps plan
Next steps: I’ll provide you with an accurate fee proposal to fully design and document your project.
The Design Workshop is $1140.40 + GST. A discount is available for multiple rooms. A 50% non-refundable deposit is payable up front to secure a booking, as I’ll need to prepare, order samples & brochures relevant to your project. The balance will be due 2 days prior to the appointment time. I’ll email you a Comprehensive Questionnaire to fill out, and will request photos of your existing room, plans of your house, and any inspirational photos you may have collected, so that I can review this relevant information prior to the consultation. This information must be supplied a minimum of 7 working days in advance of our meeting.

Step 3: Kitchen, Bathroom & Laundry Design & Documentation Packages:
After we’ve completed Step 3 (Design workshop), the next stage is to progress to full concept design and documentation
Includes:
- 1.5 hour meeting to review the Preliminary layout plan & conduct a full survey of the room, taking into account your existing services locations
- 1 revision to the Preliminary layout plan
- Selection of fixtures, fittings & appliances (one option for each only)
- Feature lighting selection (kitchen & bathroom only, one option for each only)
- Window treatments selection (kitchen only)
- Cad drawings (in Revit).
- 3D Birds eye views & perspective sketches in black & white line drawing
- Design & documentation of custom cabinetry
- Full design/documentation for builders
- 1 hour Presentation and one revision (layout only)
