We’re thrilled to announce that our new studio, designed by Lisa Elliott Interior Design, has been featured in GT Magazine!

Our self-contained studio pod is a truly custom creation, a unique space for our team and clients that elevates the standard Comfypod into something bespoke and inspiring. Situated in Melbourne, this addition to our “forever home” seamlessly blends creativity, functionality, and a touch of luxury. Designed with just enough space for our team of two and occasional client or builder meetings, it also serves as a future guest suite, adding versatility to its charm.
Previously, the area where the studio now stands was a bit of an afterthought in our backyard. Now, it completes the space, transforming it into a cohesive, resort-like retreat with a sense of tranquility we hadn’t quite achieved before. With its location near the pool, our home truly feels like a “holiday at home,” and we’ve realized just how important it is to have an inspiring space set apart from the main house. This separation brings an added benefit: when the workday is done, we can literally “close the door” on our work life and transition effortlessly into relaxation mode.
Working from this beautiful, purpose-built studio has become a joy in itself. Not only is it a visually inspiring environment, but it’s also equipped with all the comforts of home and the practical layout of an office, creating the ideal balance of productivity and personal enjoyment. It’s these touches that make a workspace more than just a place to work—they transform it into a place where ideas flourish and each day begins and ends with ease.
When designing the exterior finishes and lighting for our studio, we carefully selected elements that would harmonise with our existing alfresco design, creating a unified, resort-inspired outdoor space. By echoing textures and colors from our home’s outdoor palette, we achieved a cohesive aesthetic that enhances the “holiday at home” ambiance we envisioned.
We incorporated lighting that not only provides practical illumination but also contributes to a warm, inviting atmosphere when the studio & pool area is used after dark. This careful attention to exterior detailing ensures that the studio doesn’t just stand alone but truly complements our home’s overall design—adding both style and function to our backyard oasis.

The compact ensuite in our new bespoke studio perfectly balances functionality with luxurious, thoughtful design touches, making it a true highlight of the workspace. Though small, the ensuite includes a full-sized shower, basin, and toilet, demonstrating the efficient use of space for comfort and practicality.
To create an inviting, spa-like ambiance, we used a soothing color palette of warm neutrals, complemented by a dusty pink accent wall and black fixtures that add a modern edge. Thoughtful details like a heated towel rail, hand-textured tiles, and feature wall lighting enhance the luxury feel, while smart storage solutions maximize usability.

The result is a beautiful, serene, and practical ensuite, a reflection of Lisa Elliott Interior Design’s commitment to creating work-from-home spaces that are as enjoyable as they are functional.
We’re thrilled to be in the final stages of fitting out our new studio, carefully designing it to be a cozy, inspiring workspace that suits our small team of two. Like many real-life projects, the transformation didn’t happen overnight; instead, we’ve taken the time to stage each phase to fit our priorities, balancing design choices with functionality.
The space features a unique, compact ensuite that’s packed with luxurious details, but we’re far from finished! As we continue to refine this dream work-from-home office, we’ll be sharing each new design element that adds character and charm. Follow along for updates as we bring every corner of our ideal studio space to life, creating an interior that truly reflects Lisa Elliott Interior Design’s dedication to high-end, personalised workspaces, and finishing the landscaping at the entry.
Our journey creating this custom studio is a testament to our approach to interior design: understanding that every detail can make a lasting difference. A well-crafted brief is essential to ensure that both your Architect and Interior Designer can bring your vision to life seamlessly. So, how do you get started? Why hire an Interior Designer in Melbourne for your Wellbeing-Focused Home?
Hiring a qualified Interior Designer in Melbourne allows you to design your home with intention. Designers can take the time to consider how your daily rituals – like mediation, exercise, and relaxation – can be supported by the environment around you. By collaborating early on with your Architect and Interior Designer, you can ensure that both the architecture and the interiors work together seamlessly to support your lifestyle and wellbeing.
Gather your Ideal Design Team Early
Building or renovating a luxury home requires more than just a good Architect. To ensure your home supports your daily rituals and lifestyle, it’s essential to bring in a highly skilled Interior Designer at the start of the process. Getting an Interior Designer onboard early ensures a more integrated design approach. You’ll benefit from a Peer Review where your designer will offer feedback on layouts, suggest furniture arrangements, assess flow, and provide advice on materials.
Supporting Your Architect by Focusing on the Interiors
When building or renovating a home, architects face increasingly complex challenges such as town planning regulations, environmental considerations, and compliance with ever-evolving building codes. By hiring an Interior Designer to handle the finer details of your interiors, you allow your architect to focus on the broader structural elements of your home. A dedicated designer can help alleviate some of that pressure, ensuring that your homes interiors are meticulously planned and beautifully executed.

So, why Hire an Interior Designer?
Many clients often overlook the value of hiring a professional interior designer, especially when embarking on high-end or complex builds. Some may believe that working solely with a builder and selecting finishes as they go will suffice. However, without a cohesive design vision, this often results in last-minute decisions, limited choices, and unforeseen costs due to changes or variations not accounted for by the builder.
Collaborating with a qualified interior designer from the start allows for strategic planning, ensuring that every aspect—layouts, finishes, and furnishings—are meticulously designed to align with both function and aesthetics. You’ll receive detailed drawings and material selections early on, allowing for competitive quoting and eliminating guesswork.
Beyond aesthetics, you require a highly trained, registered interior designer, particularly for complex luxury residential and commercial projects. This is not just about having a “good eye” for design; it’s about ensuring spaces meet regulatory standards, timelines, and a vision that enhances the overall architecture.
By working with a professional, you ensure a seamless process that saves both time and money while delivering a final product that matches your project goals.
